17Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the LORD;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
19GOD, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the deer’s;
he makes me tread on my high places.
This has been a difficult week for our church family.
Last week our dear brother, Mr. Moss, went home to be with the Lord after an almost two year battle with a brain tumor. We grieve with his wife and 6 children and continue to pray that they will know the comfort both in their life and in his death of belonging to God through Christ.
Minutes before the service to celebrate Mr. Moss' life, we received word that another young man in our church had also passed away. He was 24 years old. We all feel the sting of death with his parents, 3 sisters and brother. And we pray that they will know God's comfort in this valley and remember his victory over death.
We are reminded this year at Thanksgiving that our joy is in Christ, even as we walk through deep waters. If you are able, please keep these families and our church family in your prayers during this time.
